Maria Ford (she/her) is an Ottawa-based West Coast Swing (WCS) community leader, All-Star, and Master Instructor. In 2006, Maria founded Smoothstyle Dance Studio, providing group and private instruction. In 2024, she recruited, trained, and mentored a team of eight WCS instructors who delivered a weekly progressive West Coast Swing syllabus over several years. She continues to support several of them who have gone on to lead teaching teams of their own. In 2024, Maria launched the Smoothstyle West Coast Swing Teacher Team Training program. It is a culmination of her extensive WCS training, Master Instructor certification from Global Professional Dance Instructors Association (GPDIA), and nearly two decades of experience developing her dance partners, instructors, students, and community.
